Outdoors at the Awards

The boys and I went to support Delaney at her awards night, but rather than sit in the hot gym we were able to go outside and listen for Delaney's name to be called through the doors they had open to keep the breeze blowing through the gym.  She got an award for being one of the top students in science, so Max and Hayes were able to sun over and watch through the door and then go back to playing in the field.

Mother's Day Weekend

It was a jam packed weekend celebration.  We celebrated my mom's birthday with the Nick and Natalie and their kids coming down for the weekend and it's now warm enough in Illinois for the grandparent's to migrate from Florida.   It wasn't a quiet weekend with kids always underfoot and plenty of outdoor activities.
We played basketball, football, baseball and Uncle Keith even challenged Max to a bike race around the block, but he seemed to have an unfair advantage using a bike with gears.   I was happy to win a few games of knockout but Nick and I lost to Keith and Dad in our bocce ball game.   Amber made a delicious meal with her famous marshmallow cinnamon rolls and Cat spent hours on the cake ball bouquet which almost didn't make it due to the fact we didn't factor in how we would transport it to my mom's house.

Words with Friends

Who knew letter writing could be so fun.  Thanks to Jada and Jeff Hoerr for hosting a Compassion letter dinner party.   I left the writing to Catherine while I used the time to take some pictures of all the wordsmiths.

Cinco de Mayo

Brittany and Gabe always throw a great party and Cinco De Mayo was no exception.  I got to enjoy badminton and volleyball and some weird but good Korean Tacos with Kimchi from Edmund Foo and Eric's cornbread in a pizza pan.   Luckily we had Delaney there to take some pictures, so I can show my face.

Turning 30 in Chicago

Catherine and I enjoyed a relaxing weekend on the Magnificent Mile where we celebrated her 30th birthday.  We enjoyed some great food at Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba and The Purple Pig, and Catherine relaxed at the Four Seasons Spa while I enoyed a play about Chess Hustlers at The Goodman.  A day at the spa was the only thing Cat wanted for her birthday, so she enjoyed the massage and facial and a relaxing day being pampered.  On Sunday we went over to my parents to celebrate with the family.   Catherine's dessert of choice being caramel apples and pink bubblegum ice cream from Baskin Robbins which I tried to talk her out of because she's not turning five and I believe that's the cut off age for actually enjoying pink bubblegum ice cream.  Catherine works hard all year so I am glad she was able to relax a little this weekend because she deserves it.  Thanks for all you do Cat, you're the best.  Happy 30th.
