Over the River and Through the Woods

It isn't often that a February day lends itself to a walk in the woods, but we found ourselves at the Forest Park Nature Center on a recent afternoon enjoying the warmer temps.  We had a nice walk until I led us up a hill and then thought we could get down by walking along the ridge on what I thought was a path.  We ended up having to scoot down a fairly steep hill as opposed to walking back the way we came which would have been another 40 minutes.  I don't know who was the bigger crybaby...Catherine or Hayes... the hill wasn't that steep.

A Little Shock of Pink

I think everyone in the family was surprised when Catherine came home with pink hair in support of friends with breast cancer, but judging by his reaction - Hayes was the most shocked of us all.

Dolphin Swim

I suckered Jeff into buying a DVD of photos capturing our dolphin excursion from the photographer on board...and it finally came in! We wanted to share some photos with you...If you ever find yourself in Waianae on Oahu, you won't regret scuba diving with the dolphins. It was one of the most beautiful experiences of our lives! --Cat

On the Stage and On the Court

This past Saturday gave Max and Delaney the opportunity to express themselves in ways that they love.  Delaney performed in the Morton Junior High production of "Project Campfire".  She played a camp counselor in charge of the Creativity Camp.   She did a great job and slipped easily into bossing all the campers around as if she was home bossing her brothers around.  Max enjoyed his first basketball game of the season.  He dribbled, shot, guarded and played a great game with his team coming from behind and pulling out a win.

Max's Birthday Wish? A New Cake!

You couldn't have made an uglier birthday cake if you wanted to and we did not want to.    It started with a crack that we had to cover up and Catherine made two trips to the store to buy "decorating" supplies to cover up the crack with a poorly designed football goalpost, but we didn't have a tip for the icing so it looked pretty bad but the cake didn't hold together and even though we kept throwing more decorations on top, I guess we should've cut or losses and just bought a new one but we had spent so much money trying to fix it that we didn't want to waste it, plus it didn't totally fall apart until the trip over to my parents.   Max was a trooper and didn't seem to mind the ugliest birthday cake ever.  He had fun showing his grandpa and cousin how to play his new ds game and building with his new electronics snap circuits set.    Somehow Hayes ended up in a fairy costume.   So who's to blame for the Ugliest Birthday Cake in the World...well, Catherine was the one who took the Cake Decorating class... I was just her humble apprentice.
